Lesson Learned

Camryn woke up this morning, came into my bathroom where I was getting dressed, and in her hand was a plastic baggie with her little tooth still in it. She looked at me and in a shaky voice with her eyes on the verge of tears she said 'Mommy, the tooth fairy didn't come.' My heart just sank. How could I forget to put those two little dollars under her pillow last night? I put my arms around her and kissed her and said 'Honey, I know she didn't forget you. I bet she just ran out of time last night. There are so many little boys and girls losing their teeth right now that she just couldn't get to them all. I bet you will be first on her list tonight.' A couple of months ago, a good friend of mine told me that she had once forgotten to do her tooth fairy duties and had to concoct a very creative story for her son when he woke up the next morning with his tooth still under his pillow. Her story was that the tooth fairy couldn't fly that night because it was too windy and that she would try to take flight again that night (is that a great story or what? I certainly couldn't think of that on the fly). When she told me this story my first thought was how could you forget and then my second thought was man, I hope that never happens to me. What would I say? What would I do? Well, it has now happened and I vow to not let it happen again. You can be sure that there are 2 dollars lying underneath Camryn's pillow right now.

On a better note..............

LAUREN is officially riding her bike with NO TRAINING WHEELS! We are so proud of her! For the past several weeks, we have been taking Lauren down to an empty lot down the street from our house and letting her ride her bike in the grass. She has been riding her bike without training wheels for a couple of weeks now, but she would only ride it in the grass. She was deathly afraid of the concrete pavement. It might have to do with a little crash that she had while I was 'trying' to help her get over her fear of falling on the concrete. But, tonight, we convinced her that she could do it and she did! After getting over her fear, she wanted to ride her bike on the street all night. She would still be out there if we had not told her that she needed to take a bath and go to bed! Here is the video of our baby girl and this major milestone!

Oh Tami, I know how sad you must have been. Just remember you are an awesome mom. Mistakes happen.
See you all soon-Joyce

Evidently, the tooth fairy is feeling the effects of the economy just as the rest of us are. She must be under staffed and over worked. She forgot to come to our house too!
